What exactly is a Tied House? A Tied House is a satellite pub that is “tied” to a central brewery. Tying pubs to a central brewery is an old English tradition, and is also a colorful part of pre-prohibition Chicago.
The Wild Onion Tied House here in Oak Park is “tied” to the Wild Onion Brewery located in Lake Barrington, Illinois. Both are owned and operated by the Kainz family who have a strong history of beer brewing experience going back to Prohibition.
